Water and Hygiene Education

Rotary Club Oradea Art Nouveau vUm invite you to be our partners
and to support the HEALTH AND EDUCATION of our children!
EDUCATION ON WATER AND HYGIENE
Dear partners,
Drinking water is an essential human right, which is often difficult to achieve. Worldwide, there are 2.5 billion people who do not have access to sanitation and 748 million who do not benefit from drinking water. When people have access to clean water, they lead healthier and safer lives. Because of the lack of sanitary facilities and inadequate water, 1,400 children die every day, as a result of the diseases caused by them.

Education about handwashing, with clean water and soap, is the only and most effective technique for protecting public and individual health by ensuring basic sanitary hygiene. In this way, the spread of diseases can be prevented, such as flu, diarrhea, hepatitis A, cholera, etc. It is estimated that worldwide 1.5 million children die annually due to diarrhea. Washing hands with soap and water could reduce child mortality from diarrhea by up to 44%.
The students included in these projects are informed about the importance of hand washing in preventing a series of health risks, which they could face in their daily life; they are encouraged to form the habit of hand washing and, more than that, to inform the community and especially schools about the importance of hand washing and the role of this activity in preventing diseases.
The main purpose of the project is to inform students, teaching and auxiliary staff, as well as other parties involved in the educational process, both about water, as a limited natural resource, and about sanitary engineering, as a component of health, on which the future of generations depends which will follow.
We want a large part of rural schools, and not only, to benefit from the implementation of this project, through which we will serve the local communities, "Rotary opens opportunities", according to the theme of the year 2020-2021.
Project Description The development of the Project is supported by several elements-printed documents: Guide-Brochure, Leaflet and Poster.
Brochure is primarily dedicated to school teachers, who, based on the included information, can provide students with general information about water and its consumption, about hand washing, the practical way of doing it and the importance of this action for our health, as well as support for accurate knowledge of the situation in the rural localities where these people live, by conducting interviews of several kinds. In this way, the brochure offers both theoretical and practical elements, which can be presented, discussed and applied in science classes, counseling and guidance or in other actions that schools carry out, both in an informal setting and and informal. The description of the information was made in general terms of presentation and is accompanied by representative drawings for the understanding of the ideas by a wide range of students, from primary classes, from rural areas in particular.
leaflet it is primarily dedicated to students, aged between 9-15 years and contains suggestive information about water and hand washing, which must be read and respected in daily life. This leaflet can also be useful for the parents of these children, who thus, being more informed about this subject, can ask their children to follow these simple rules of life in relation to water and sanitary hygiene at home.
poster has the role of transmitting simple and direct messages, related to water and the environment.
By displaying it in school hallways, in classrooms it will have a permanent effect on the understanding of these major issues related to healthy living.
At the level of each school, respectively class, which will be included in this Project, should be offered:
– 2-3 pcs. Guide brochures for teachers from each of the IV-VIII classes in the schools involved;
– Leaflets for each student from grades IV-VIII from the schools included in the Project;
– One Poster for each class involved in the Project, to which 2-3 Posters can be added for the corridor area in the school.
Be our partners and DONATE TO HELP EDUCATE THE YOUNG GENERATION TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY AND BALANCED ENVIRONMENT!
